The cost of not knowing

Your accounts show today. Decisions need the years.

A balance answers what you have. A dated record shows whether your choices are working.

Your finances are spread across bank accounts, investment platforms, property, spreadsheets and expense trackers. Each one shows a fragment.

Focused Capitalist brings the whole position into one monthly number and keeps every snapshot behind it.

A month grid from 2017 to 2026. Empty outlined dots mark months without a recorded financial snapshot, while ochre dots mark months with a record.
Every empty dot is a month of financial history you no longer have.

I’ve kept a logbook since Aug 2011. One monthly snapshot, ten minutes each. Now it lives in Focused Capitalist.

Why I built Focused Capitalist

I wanted automation, individual tracking and a history I could read.

My spreadsheet got more tangled every year. After a decade, fixing it was no longer the answer.

But what really pushed me to build was a different question: if I combine what I own with what I spend, how long is my runway? That’s where Focused Capitalist is headed. My own portfolio, from individual stocks to gold coins, runs through it.

The missing history

Start the record you will wish you had.

Today’s balances can be recovered. Their history cannot.

Two years from now, you can know whether saving, investing and debt repayment moved your whole position forward.

The first snapshot takes about ten minutes. One portfolio and every snapshot after it are free.
